Deuxième Dame, Deborah Rose et Japhet consacrer YMLab4

The President of Friends of Yamoransa Foundation (FYF) and Helping Africa Foundation (HAF), Dr. Deborah Rose and the Executive Director of HAF, Mr. Japhet Aryiku, both non-profit organisations in the USA has funded and commissioned an ultra-modern computer lab for the Choggu Demonstration School in the Sagnarigu Municipality of the Northern Region of Ghana on 27th May, 2019.

The 56-seater Model Lab dubbed: “Yamoransa Model Lab 4”, was implemented by TECHAiDE and commissioned in collaboration with the office of the Second Lady, Hajia Samira Bawumia. Addressing the occasion, the CEO of TECHAiDE, Mr. Kafui Prebbie, iterated that TECHAiDE as a technology company focuses on selecting the robust technologies to enhance the teaching and learning of Science, Technology, English and Mathematics (STEM). In addition, TECHAiDE also installed its innovative technology, the ‘ASANKA‘ (https://www.myasanka.com), to provide free access to educational content and free e-learning resources at the lab.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Deborah Rose said, the educational philosophy of the United States embraces the general liberal arts education, encompassing the humanities, the social and natural sciences, rather than strictly technical or pre-professional training and this is believed to be the best preparation to become better citizens of the world.

Mr. Aryiku said the essential mandate of the foundation is geared towards improving the education, social welfare and health conditions within the sub-Saharan Africa, particularly, Ghana. In addition, he said the lab dedication was in line with the mission and vision of Dr. Rose to promote and spread computer literacy throughout the Ghanaian school system, stating that, ” this is the 4th model lab in quick succession built in Ghana”.

Hajia Samira Bawumia, said that ICT cannot be taken off since it continues to play a major role in the delivery of services to achieving a broad socio-economic goal in education, health, employment and social development. She said that to put all children globally on the same scale, we have to strive towards empowering everyone at places where especially they have little or no access to ICT as a result of lack of infrastructure and inadequate skilled personnel. “As a nation, we owe it a duty to the next generation, and that duty is to commit ourselves to the growth and the development of our children”. Other dignitaries present at the dedication were Mrs. Mariam Iddrisu (Municipal Chief Executive), Alhaji Mohammed Haroon (Northern Regional Director of Education), Chiefs, Mr. Anis Haffar (Council Member of the GES) together with other Directors.

The facility will benefit over 8,000 school children from host school and nine other surrounding schools. TECHAiDE, as a technology implementer will continue to support the maintenance of the project viz-a-viz IMPLEMENTERS, who are managers of the project.
