The IMPLEMENTERS and TECHAiDE teams conducted a needs assessment for the 9th Yamoransa Model (YM) Lab in Bomaa, Ahafo Region, Ghana. Funded by Friends of Yamoransa and Helping Africa Foundations (HAF & FYF), the YM Labs Program aims to enhance education through technology across all regions of Ghana. The project is set to benefit over 4,000 learners annually.
The existing Science & ICT Lab block at Bomaa Senior High School (SHS) was selected for the project. This facility, with four rooms, is sufficient for two EDULabs, a Makerspace, a Conference Room, and a Centre Manager’s Office.
The lab will feature:
- Two EDULab rooms, each with a 24-seater EDULab Gold, totaling 48 computers, and two Teacher’s EDULabs.
- A Makerspace to promote robotics and AR/VR learning, equipped with 10 TECHAiDE bundle laptops, an Oculus-compatible server, a VR Oculus Rift S headset, a 3D Makerbot printer, a 3D Apps computer system, Arduino kits, an Ozobot set of 18 pieces, and Mindstorm LEGO kits.
- A Conference Room for conferences, training sessions, and community meetings.
- A Centre Manager’s Office for managing the lab and its resources.
This project highlights TECHAiDE’s commitment to leveraging partnerships for impactful educational advancements and bridging the digital literacy gap.
