Project Brief
The Yamoransa Model Lab Gambia, inspired by the Yamoransa Model and led by Miss Sukai Sey, is set up at St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School in Banjul to advance STEAM education in The Gambia.
The Yamoransa Model Lab – Gambia, a replication of the Yamoransa Model in The Gambia, is spearheaded by Miss Sukai Sey, a dedicated friend of the Helping Africa Foundation. This initiative aims to foster sustainable development in The Gambia by promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education. The first project under this model, the Yamoransa Model Lab – Gambia 1, marks a significant milestone as the inaugural STEAM-focused lab in The Gambia.
The Yamoransa Model Lab – Gambia 1 project, situated at St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School (SSS) in Banjul, represents a groundbreaking effort to enhance educational opportunities through advanced technology. Following extensive consultations with relevant stakeholders, St. Joseph’s SSS was selected as the ideal location due to its proactive leadership and readiness to support the project’s success.
The IMPLEMENTERS/TECHAiDE team conducted a comprehensive needs assessment to tailor the lab’s setup to the school’s specific requirements. Key stakeholders were briefed on the project’s objectives and progress during a meeting that included: Board Chair Madam Antoinette Cori, Principal Madam Hannah Coker, and Vice Principal Mr. Sylvian Gomez, briefed on the project’s progress and goals.
